Good news for those who can't keep themselves away from internet networks. Boeing has announced that they plan to allow in-flight internet as well as phone calls on their 787-9 and 787-8 flights. This will be a part of the "optional extras" that Airlines ordering Dreamliner planes can pick. Some of these includes type of seats, galleys, toilets as well as crew rest seats. They even have the option to leave out the rest loft areas like Jetstar did with the their 787 fleet. Boeing decided on 2 satellite platforms for their 787-8 and 787-9 flights. Both of these will allow internet and mobile phone calls, but of course the airlines can choose to disable whatever they want to. Air New Zealand will be the first customer for the 787-9 with their first flight date set for October next year.
