Since I'm in the market for tablets myself, I found this very interesting. Staples just released their sales report which is quite eye opening to say the least. Back in the day, it used to be around 95% computers and 5% tablets. Today, it's about 60% computers and 40% tablets. Yes, computer sales are still higher but it shows the direction in which we are heading. As of today, Staples' net income for the 2nd quarter dropped to $102.5 million which is 16 cents a share. As of last year, it was $120.4 million, or 18 cents a share. It is their job to reduce space in the store by getting rid of items that do not sell well, and replace them with things that do. In the upcoming years, when we walk into the stores, we will likely see less and less PC's on display, and more tablets/mobile phones.
