As the news would have it, Hillshire Brands is setting out to buy Pinnacle Foods Inc. for $4.3 billion in a mixture of cash and stock. This combination will unite Pinnacle's Vlasic pickles and Hillshire's Ball Park hot dogs. This will be under Hillshire Brands name and based in Chicago. Throughout the change, their CEO Sean Connolly will remain in the same position. With the deal set to be completed in September, Pinnacle shareholders will get $18 in cash and 0.5 share for each Pinnacle share. This comes out to $36.48, which is 20% higher than last week's closing price. The whole transaction will be worth $6.6 billion, including Pinnacle's debt as well.
